The Value of Retreating in Nature

For most of us, the challenges thrown up over the last couple of years have been tiring and testing at best. They have naturally placed strains on our physical and emotional health. Living in, or moving to a foreign country during this time, settling into a new home, community or school without the usual social network and community support, definitely exasperating the challenges.

As we start to move towards relaxed measures and flexibility to travel, I am sure I am not the only one who has been keen to take long over-due breaks and get-aways. But, as a Family of 5 with 3 kids 10 and under, I will be the first to admit, the planning and organising of these alone, can leave me exhausted. Not to mention the impossible task of trying to keep 3 kids fed, washed, rested and happy whilst doing all the fun-action-pack activities/sightseeing planned!

In reality, whilst holidays are wonderful opportunities for family time, they are rarely an actual break for us as parents. They don’t allow us time from our daily gride, time for our thoughts to rest and our bodies to be.  We don’t unplug.

As adults or parents with busy lives, commitments and demands, its important to still find time for ourselves. Time to disconnect and destress. Time to reset and rejuvenate our senses. To take stock and reflect on what’s important in our lives.

Spending time in nature, without distraction, is one of the best ways of really unplugging. The benefits of spending time outdoors are well-researched and proven to be an incredibly powerful tool for healing our minds, bodies, and souls.

Have you ever noticed when you’ve taken a walk in a woods, how much lighter, clearer and positive you feel. Its like clearing away the cobwebs! Whether you’re looking to provide peace for the soul, reset and open the mind, heal the body, or open and warm the heart, time spent in is the great connector.

A retreat to nature is often a great way to really give yourself time to immerse yourself in nature and give yourself the time to properly unplug from daily life and its commitments. Allowing yourself to focus on you, your well-being, personal ambitions dreams and hopes!

It gives time to:

  • feed your soul with calm and quiet
  • Sooth the mind by disconnecting from the daily humdrum
  • stretching your legs and re-energising your body
  • time for reflection on what’s important to us
  • offering opportunities for new adventures
  • reconnecting with ourselves and others

In October I’ll be teaming up with Yogawithsina and Nuh-rish to offer an amazing 3 day/2 night nature and yoga retreat, set in a private tranquil villa by one of the Fuji Lakes with wonderfully nourishing freshly prepare plant based food.

A place:

  • To truly disconnect from the demands and stresses of everyday life,
  • That allows you to rejuvenate the mind, soul and spirit
  • A place surrounded nature and the foothills of Fuji.
  • Where you can sleep blissfully and undisturbed
  • To give yourself ‘me time’ – to explore, adventure ort relax
