🌿 ReWild Child Summer Camps – FAQs
Our ReWild Child summer camps are designed to offer something different — a slower, more connected experience rooted in nature, creativity, and exploration.
We know that choosing the right environment for your child matters. Below you’ll find answers to some of the most common questions, to help you feel confident, informed, and excited about the experience ahead.

What is a typical day at camp like?
Our days follow a gentle, nature-led rhythm.
Mornings are active and exploratory — walking, discovering, creating, and connecting with the landscape. As the day unfolds, we slow down, gathering in shaded spaces for crafts, rest, and quieter moments.
Each day is guided by curiosity, the group, and the natural environment.
⸻
What kind of activities will the children do?
Our camps are rooted in nature connection, exploration, and creativity.
Activities may include:
• Exploring local ecosystems (plants, water, wildlife)
• Nature-based crafts and creative projects
• Learning traditional uses of wild plants
• Simple bushcraft and outdoor skills
• Water play and sensory exploration
• Free, child-led adventure and discovery
Each day flows organically, shaped by what we find and experience together.
⸻
Who is this camp for?
Our camps are open to all, but are especially suited to:
• International and multilingual families
• Children comfortable communicating in English
• Children aged 7–11
• Kids who enjoy being outdoors, getting messy, and exploring
Children often come from a mix of international, bilingual, and local Spanish families, creating a warm and welcoming environment where friendships form easily.
No prior experience is needed — just curiosity and a willingness to get involved.
⸻
What if my child is new to outdoor environments?
That’s completely okay.
Many children arrive with little or no outdoor experience. Our approach is gentle and supportive, allowing each child to engage at their own pace and build confidence naturally over time.
⸻
What languages are spoken at camp?
Our camps are delivered in English, creating a natural immersion environment.
Children connect through shared outdoor experiences, with language developing naturally through play, exploration, and collaboration.
⸻
How big are the groups?
Groups are intentionally small and personal.
This allows children to:
• Build real friendships
• Feel seen and supported
• Explore in a calm, connected way
We maintain a maximum ratio of 1 adult to 6 children, with a minimum of two experienced leaders present.
⸻
How do you ensure children’s safety?
Safety is central to everything we do.
All activities are carefully risk-assessed, and children are guided in how to explore safely, including around tools, terrain, and water. We maintain close supervision with small group ratios, while still allowing space for independence and confidence-building.
⸻
Are staff qualified?
Collette, Founder of ReWild Child, leads all camps.
She is a qualified Forest School Leader, ANFT Forest Therapy Guide, and First Aid Responder, with over 7 years of experience working with children in outdoor settings.
⸻
How do drop-off and pick-up work?
For local sessions, drop-off and pick-up take place at the agreed location.
For Sierra camps, children meet at El Pinar Las Rozas train station, which is well connected to both the city centre and surrounding family suburbs. From here to travel by trail together to Cercedilla we’re we begin our daily adventures.
⸻
Are the Sierra camps overnight?
No — these are day adventures.
Children return each afternoon, ready for rest and time with family.
⸻
What should children bring?
Children should come prepared for a full day outdoors:
• Comfortable, practical clothing
• Sun protection (hat, sunscreen)
• Sturdy outdoor shoes
• Backpack with:
• Packed lunch
• Snacks
• Water
• Spare clothes
• Small towel (for water play)
A full packing list will be shared ahead of time.
⸻
How do you adapt to the summer heat?
June in Spain can be warm, and we plan our days with this in mind.
Mornings are active and exploratory, making the most of cooler hours. As the day warms, we slow down — gathering in shaded areas under tree canopy and tarps for calmer activities.
In the Sierra, temperatures are naturally cooler, with forest cover providing additional comfort.
⸻
What happens in bad weather?
Summer in Spain is characteristically dry and sunny. In the event of light rain or scattered showers, sessions will still go ahead. Conditions are warm, and we use tarps and natural canopy for shelter — all part of the outdoor experience.
In cases of heavy rain or strong winds, sessions will be cancelled if they cannot be delivered safely and comfortably.
⸻
Will I receive updates during the camp?
We often share small updates or photos during the week, allowing you to feel connected to your child’s experience.
⸻
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellations are as follows:
• 28 days or more in advance: 100% refund
• 21–28 days in advance: 70% refund
• 14–21 days in advance: 50% refund
• 0–14 days in advance: No refund
